Given that DevOps Professional is an advanced level course, the recommend path to attain this level of certification is to first master the Associate level certifications – which in this case are the Developer Associate AND the SysOps Administrator Associate.
The professional level courses therefore usually do not repeat the content covered in Associate level courses. Instead they focus more on the knowledge required to integrate these services into solutions and arhitectures that address scenarios that experienced professionals encounter in the real-world.
If you have not recently covered the Associate level material or need some review of some topics therein, it is well-worth revisiting those in the respective Associate level courses before diving headlong into the professional level course.
The most popular courses for DevOps professional are the ones by Stephane Maarek and Adrain Cantrill – both of whom are excellent trainers. Stephane’s content typically gets straight to the point with quick explanations and demos making for a much shorter course. Whereas with Adrian it is a slow burn that takes you through all the nitty-gitty and the ‘why’ various foundational concepts and slowly builds the expertise through multiple projects and scenarios. Pick your poison. You will definitely have to augment the training with hands-on experience and labs, review of documentation and whitepapers, reading up on what’s changing on some of these services so you are not caught by surprise, and then diligent practice exams.
